Overview

DropVox is a macOS app that transcribes audio files using on-device AI. Your privacy is fundamental to how we built this product. Audio processing happens entirely on your Mac — no audio data is ever sent to our servers or any third party.

Audio Processing

All transcription is performed locally on your Mac using WhisperKit, an optimized implementation of OpenAI's Whisper model for Apple Silicon.

  • Your audio files are never uploaded to any server
  • No audio data is stored beyond your local machine
  • We have no ability to access your audio files or transcriptions

Data We Collect

At Purchase

When you purchase a DropVox Pro license, we collect your email address (provided to Stripe during checkout). This is used solely to deliver your license key and for purchase-related communication.

License Activation

When you activate a license, your machine ID (a hardware identifier) is sent to our server to manage device activations. Each license supports up to 3 machines. We also receive your app version and OS version for compatibility checks.

Anonymous Telemetry (Opt-Out)

DropVox includes optional, anonymous telemetry via TelemetryDeck to help us improve the app.

  • Events tracked: app launches, transcription start/complete/fail, model downloads
  • No personal information, audio content, or transcription text is ever included
  • You can disable telemetry in Settings > General > "Help Improve DropVox"

Third-Party Services

  • Stripe — Payment processing. Handles credit card information securely. We never see or store your card details.
  • Resend — Transactional email delivery. Used to send license keys and restore emails.
  • Supabase — Database hosting. Stores license records (key, email, machine activations).
  • TelemetryDeck — Privacy-focused analytics. Collects anonymous usage signals with no personal identifiers.

No Tracking

DropVox does not use tracking cookies, advertising networks, or any form of cross-site tracking. The website uses privacy-focused analytics that do not track individual users.

Data Retention

License records are retained as long as your license is active. If you request deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days. Telemetry data is automatically aggregated and anonymized.
